Care Day 24 Carnival!

“I am what I choose to become!”

Inspired by this year’s Care Day theme, ‘I am what I choose to become’, EPIC Youth Council members hosted a Care Day Carnival in Limerick for children in care. The day was jam-packed, with fun carnival games, tie-dye workshops, rap battles, face painting, a magic selfie machine, and Krispy Kreme doughnuts!

They were delighted to welcome Tusla CEO, Kate Duggan to their event, where she spoke with children from across Ireland who currently live in foster care, or residential and special care placements. EPIC staff were blown away by the amazing staff who accompanied children and young people to the carnival, who made it a fun and memorable experience for them – big shout out!

We thank all of our Carnival guests, and EPIC Youth Council members and staff, for making this year’s celebration so much fun 👏

Another standout moment of our Care Day 24 celebrations occurred on Care Day eve. On behalf of the children and young people in special care and residential care who participated in EPIC’s virtual Care Day events, EPIC CEO Marissa Ryan presented Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, Roderic O’Gorman, with a collection of the artwork and poetry they created for Care Day.

Events were held across Ireland, and EPIC staff were more than happy to attend Care Day events hosted by Tusla teams in Mayo, Cork, Monaghan and Dublin!

Thanks to everyone who made #CareDay24 such a success – we even knocked ACDC out of the top five trending hashtags 💜❤️🧡💙

EPIC’s Care Day celebration is done in partnership with Tusla Ireland and is funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth. Enjoy your video!
